Global Communication Contest 2014 (8/6)

Call for Participation in Global Communication Contest 2014

We invite all students having taken Science and Technology Communication (STC) courses including Global Communication, Global Presentation, Global Writing and Global Debate to participate in “Global Communication Contest 2014”.

Date: August 6th (Wed) 2014

Time: 15:00-17:00

Place: Suzukake Hall

Presentation: Speech 7 min, Q&A 3 min
The topic is decided by the student’s own choice, but applicants must submit the Sign-up form.

Selection Committee: Prof. Yuki Yamaguchi, Prof. Masashi Sugiyama, and instructors from STC courses. Winners will be decided by votes.
Professors will vote on these criteria (English level is not subject to evaluation):
1. How interesting topic is
2. How understandable
   a) Voice: flexible, volume
   b) Physical: appearance, gestures
   c) Manner: directness, assurance, enthusiasm
3. How engaging, motivating

People in the audience will have one vote on these criteria:
1. How interesting topic is
2. How understandable
3. How engaging, motivating

Prizes and certificates: The three best students’ speeches will be selected and awarded by the selection committee, and one additional award will be decided by the audience.
Prizes will be announced on the day of the contest.

Application: Fill out Sign-up form (doc, pdf) with speech outline and send it to ibunka@acls.titech.ac.jp
Signing up does not guarantee your entry into the contest. After careful evaluation, presenters will be selected.

Deadline for application: 12:00 noon, July 22nd (Tue) 2014

Announcement of selected students: The result will be notified to applicants on July 24th (Thu) 2014.

In addition to the contest, the ACLS is preparing a BBQ from 18:00.
For students giving a talk is free of charge and for all other students fee is 1,000 yen.
